Our next scheduled meeting will be on Thursday, June 12, 2014. Presenting will be Don Brent LCRA, Chief of Public Safety , on "Copper Theft, Threat to the Grid." Preceding our main speaker will be an FBI monthly intelligence brief.
Guest Speaker Bio - Don Brent:
Don was born in Bonham, Texas and moved to Austin at an early age. Don grew up in Austin and graduated from Austin High School. Don attended Blinn College, St. Edward=E2=80=99s University and Midwestern State University (Criminal Justice). Don began his law enforcement career in 1973 with the Texas Department of Public Safety. He was assigned as a State Trooper in Baytown, Texas. Don resigned from DPS in 1981 and went to work for Exxon Corporation t= ill February 1996 working a variety of jobs within the corporation. Don then took a position with The Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) in April of1996. Don was promoted to the LCRA Security Administrator position in 1997. In October of 1998 Don was promoted to the Chief Ranger position in the LCRA Public Safety Department. Don was promoted in 2011 to an executive level position and currently manages multiple departments within the LCRA. Don holds a Master Peace Officer Certificate, TCLEOSE Firearms Instructor Certificate, TCLEOSE Instructors Certificate, Swiftwater Technician Certification, Advanced Open Water Diver Certification and an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) from the Texas Department of Health. Don also graduated from the LEMIT Leadership and Command College in 2006. He currently serves on the Executive Board of the Texas Police Chief=E2=80=99s Association as the Region 10 Director
Our chapter meetings are held at the Signature Sicence Center building. The address is 8829 North Mopac Expressway, on the northbound side of Mopac between Steck and 183.
From northbound Mopac, take the Steck exit.
From southbound Mopac, take the Steck exit then turn left to make a U-turn to the northbound frontage road.
